Employment

Thinking about making a change? Make a difference in the lives of others! Friendship, Inc. has been serving adults and children who are developmentally and physically challenged since 1974. Our company is recognized as a leader in our industry. We are committed to the people we serve and to our employees. Friendship, Inc. fosters a “career path” philosophy. We encourage loyalty and longevity by offering a variety of employment and advancement opportunities.

The people we serve live in small group homes or apartment settings which allows for individualized attention and support. The staff who provide the direct care make all the difference in the quality of life. There is no experience necessary. Employees receive coaching, modeling, support, oversight and backup from the supervisory staff. Many of the managers and other administrative personnel previously were direct care employees, so they have an understanding of the needs of the people we serve and the staff.

Friendship, Inc. provides a complete orientation program for new employees as well as ongoing educational opportunities, and on-the-job orientation training for all new employees and ongoing training for all others. Training covers topics such as individual rights, administration of medications, dietary needs, first aid, CPR, standard precautions, how to prepare and carry out Individual Program Plans, how to respectfully care for the personal needs of people who are disabled, and other issues relating to the support of the people we serve. Company-wide training of management staff is encouraged. Managers benefit from these meetings, often learning as much from each other as they do from the instructors.

Friendship, Inc. looks first to its own staff when promotional opportunities occur. This is an added incentive for staff to grow and learn. A comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees (set scheduled 35 hours or more per week) includes paid training, paid time off beginning at 208 hours per year, medical/dental insurance, life insurance, short-term disability plan, flexible spending accounts, a 403B retirement plan and much more!
