Nano Nagel Day - Friendship, Inc. is a sponsored ministry of Catholic Health Initiatives in the tradition of the Presentation Sisters. The Presentation Sisters were founded by Nano Nagle in 1775. Nano Nagle was born in Ballygriffin, County Cork, Ireland in 1718. As a child Nano was very spirited, full of fun and mischief. Her parents sent her to France for her education because Catholic children were not able to attend school in Ireland. After receiving her education, Nano returned to Ireland and began teaching children in secret as it was against the law for her to do so. Soon she had many schools. Nano also went out at night to bring comfort to the sick and the poor. Thus she is often called"The Lady with the Lantern." The Presentation Sisters came to Fargo in 1882 and established St. John's Orphanage which later became Friendship, Inc.

It was the Presentation Sisters of Fargo who first gave space and a home to Friendship Village, now Friendship, Inc., back in 1974 when Pastor Tornow and other parents wanted to begin a Day Program for their children with developmental disabilities.
